A Rushden cafe, Café 16:15, is set to expand its operations after a successful first month of trading. The self-funded, volunteer-run cafe, founded by Stan Robertson, a former rough sleeper, has already made a profit and is now looking to open a second location in Wellingborough, followed by a drop-in center in Northampton. Robertson, who started the cafe as part of Project 16:15 to support homeless individuals in Northampton, expressed his satisfaction with the cafe's growth and its positive impact on the community. The cafe's success has allowed for the hiring of additional outreach workers and has become an integral part of the local community. Linda Nightingale, a visitor from Raunds, praised the cafe's welcoming atmosphere and affordable prices, while Shirley Heard, a regular supporter from Irchester, appreciates the food and the opportunity to help others. Lorna, a volunteer from Northampton, enjoys the social aspect and the chance to give back to the community. David Gillings, a Rushden resident, supports the charity and appreciates the quality food and the revitalization of an empty unit. Robertson envisions a three-year plan, with the current phase focusing on establishing cafes to fund future initiatives. The cafe will reopen on January 3rd after a festive break, and those interested in contributing to the charity or sharing story suggestions for Northamptonshire are encouraged to reach out.
