Could 2026 be the year that Mariners prospect Michael Arroyo makes his much-anticipated debut in Seattle?
The Seattle Mariners currently boast an impressive roster, featuring standout players like Julio Rodriguez and Josh Naylor. Yet, it’s Michael Arroyo, projected to be the team’s future second baseman, who stands out as a player with significant potential to thrive within the organization. In 2025, Arroyo played for both High-A Everett and Double-A Arkansas, participating in a total of 121 games. During that time, he achieved a batting average of .262, hitting 17 home runs, driving in 54 runs, and stealing 12 bases. He is set to receive an invitation to Spring Training, and while it may be unlikely for him to land a spot on the Opening Day roster, fans can anticipate his arrival sometime in 2026.
Arroyo's ability to provide valuable depth this season cannot be overlooked. Although he primarily plays second base, he is also capable of taking on shortstop duties. His defensive skills are considered solid, making him a reliable fielder—an asset in any competitive lineup. As the Mariners continue to navigate their infield and overall roster dynamics, Arroyo could find himself called up to the big leagues if injuries arise or if other players fail to perform consistently. It’s entirely plausible that his inaugural MLB season could involve several call-ups and subsequent return trips to the minors.
