Construction Updates: What's New in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge?
Ever wondered what's brewing in a galaxy far, far away, right here at Disney's Hollywood Studios? Well, two construction projects have been underway in Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge since the summer, and the latest updates are in! Let's dive in.
New Seating Area: Almost Ready for Visitors!
In July, construction walls popped up between Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Toy Story Land. These walls have since been partially removed, replaced by rolling planters. The focus? New bench seating!
This week, a crew member was spotted painting a gray wall behind the planters. The next day, we got a better look: the wall lines a flowerbed and features black railings built into its top. One of the built-in benches is made of fake rockwork along another flowerbed. Beside that is a wall that looks like part of an old structure, with a flat top that guests could also sit on. While construction materials still litter the area, it seems this new seating area might be opening soon!
Savi's Workshop Construction: Still a Mystery
But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, mysterious. While the seating area seems to be nearing completion, the construction walls outside Savi's Workshop have barely budged. These walls went up in late August, blocking part of the walkway outside the build-your-own lightsaber experience, and there's been no visible progress since. The walls now extend slightly further into the sidewalk. What could be the cause of this delay? It's anyone's guess!
A Quick Note on Progress Elsewhere
On a brighter note, a construction project in Toy Story Land recently wrapped up with the opening of a new snack kiosk. It's always great to see new additions to the parks!
